How to Start Slowing Your Pace

taught by Dr. Bryan E. Crute (Destiny Metropolitan Worship Church)

A person in hurry makes mistakes - Proverbs 19:2b (GW)

IN ORDER TO SLOW DOWN, I MUST...

1. Stop the constant push for more
there's a tendency to always want to out do others but Ecclesiastes 4:6 states It is better to have only a little, with peace of mind that be busy all the time

A relaxed attitude lenthens a man's life; jealousy rots it away - Proverbs 14:30 (NLT)

2. Learn to say NO
Matthew 5:37 (NKJV) states But let your YES be YES and your NO, NO. For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.

Although you want to, you shouldnt say yes to everyone. Typically when you have a deficit in your life, you feel the more you give, the more you'll be valued/accepted. Understand that you are valued by God. Be sure in your YES...people can tell when you're being hesistant. Dont give so much of yourself that you neglect yourself

An impulsive vow is a trap; later you'll wish you could get out of it - Provers 20:25 (MES)

it is easier to get into something than to get out of it. Dont over commit yourself to everything. It's okay to say No

3. Obey the 4th commandment
You have six days in which to do your work, but the seventh day is a day of rest dedicated to ME - Exodus 20: 9-10
The bible is filled with principles for life. It is the owner's manual for life. The things in the bible are not suggestions - they are commands. The human nature is of course to do otherwise but understand that this is a commandment of God. There are other commandments...such as dont steal, dont murder...and of course we live by that but the 4th commandment states to take the day off. You need to be able to refocus and recharge yourself.

It is useless to rise early and go to bed late, and work your worried fingers to the bone. Dont you know God enjoys giving rest to those He loves? - Psalm 127:2 (MES)

4. Wait for God's Timing
"...God does everything just right and on time. But people can never completely understand what He is doing." - Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NCV)

If you're in a hurry, it means you're impatient. Impatience implies a lack of trust in God. There are people who are married because of impatience. They refused to wait on God to honor His Word to them. The same thing happens in business and personal relationships. We try to make things happen for ourselves instead of waiting on God

Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains." James 5:7 (ESV)

We should be like the farmer that waits on the latter rain, knowing that it is what's required to make his crop more robust for harvesting. Dont try to do things on your own. Always wait/rely on God

Prayer point: "God, make a fresh start in me, shape a Genesis week from the chaos of my mind." -Psalm 51:10 (MES)
